The Flavourworks donate high risk coats to the NHS in Somerset

Submitted by Lucy Atherton.

Wincanton food producer The Flavourworks has donated its surplus high risk coats to the NHS in Somerset, to help with the PPE shortage during the coronavirus crisis.

In response Sandra Corry, the Director of Quality and Nursing for the Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group, wrote to the MD Chris Ormrod to say: “I am writing to say a massive thank you on behalf of the Somerset Health and Care system for your donation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Across Somerset at this challenging time we are working hard to keep our patients and frontline health and care staff safe, with your support we are able to provide much needed additional resources to strengthen the national PPE supplies received. Your generosity and thoughtfulness is very much appreciated.”

The company has also donated cheese to caterer Moy Park, in Northern Ireland. Its culinary team in Craigavon has turned the development kitchen into a production line, creating 1,000 meals a week to be distributed by The Resource Centre Derry.
