Food4Heroes was launched on 23rd March 2020 by Amanda Guest, and her brother, John Brownhill. The inspiration for the idea came from the plight of Yorkshire nurse, Dawn Bilborough, when she was filmed facing empty supermarket shelves after finishing a long shift.
Food4Heroes is a new not-for-profit organisation providing free, healthy and nutritious meals direct to front line NHS, particularly ICU staff. They concentrate on delivering a safe, local community-based service where the food is lovingly prepared by local caterers, pubs and restaurants who have fired up their kitchens to cook meals which are delivered direct to local hospitals every day. They now serve 24 NHS hospitals across the UK from Devon to Yorkshire, Essex via London to Northamptonshire. It costs just £2 to produce one of their fresh delicious meals.
Want to help? They’re running #StepUp4OurNHS Challenge. You can challenge yourself, and your friends, to climb one of the UKs most iconic landmarks – from home. To find out more: www.food4heroes.co.uk/stepup-4-our-nhs
